Preventive Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Learn how to care for key components like UV lamps, cooling systems, and power supplies, plus basic on-press troubleshooting skills for when something goes wrong. Cutting downtime and extending the life of your UV / UV LED system.
UV Lamp & Reflector Maintenance
The right way to clean UV lamps and reflectors, removing dust and ink residue buildup that saps light output. Prevents lamps from burning out or wearing down early, so your UV system runs at full power on every production run.

Ink & Varnish Training Courses
PSG’s printing ink specialists train your team in ink selection, ink mixing, testing, and troubleshooting for printing inks and varnishes, helping maintain consistent color and print quality across a wide range of printing substrates:
Ink & Varnish Selection for Substrate Applications
Learn how to match the right ink and varnish to each substrate, especially for label and packaging jobs that use a wide mix of materials:
- How to choose UV ink for films like PE, PP, PET, and OPP, plus paper.
- Selecting varnish for real-world use: water, oil, or scratch resistance.
- What to watch for on low-surface-tension substrates: if a film's surface energy (dyne level) is too low, ink won't bond properly, leading to color that shrinks back, peels off easily, and prints that lack sharpness.
Color Matching & Ink Mixing Control
Practice mixing ink and matching color to international standards, with a close look at how to keep every shade consistent, batch after batch:
- Mixing ink to a target sample and measuring color difference (Delta E / ΔE) with a spectrophotometer.
- Techniques for correcting color drift and keeping color consistent across production lots.
- Recording and managing a color formula database, so repeat mixes are quick and accurate.
Ink Inventory Management
Learn how to manage leftover ink from past production runs — quality-checking it, then adjusting viscosity and shade so it can go back into the process. Cuts ink costs significantly and reduce chemical waste, in line with green-manufacturing standards.
Ink Property Testing Lab
Learn how to test ink and varnish quality on real printed samples, to international standards:
- Rub Resistance Test: checks resistance to rubbing and scuffing.
- COF Test (Coefficient of Friction): measures how slippery or grippy the printed surface is.
- Lightfastness Test: checks resistance to UV light so colors don't fade.
Printing Troubleshooting Training
A systematic approach to diagnosing and fixing on-press ink issues: poor adhesion, color shifts, incomplete curing, and ink build-up on the press.

Packaging Film Selection & Handling Courses
PSG’s flexible packaging film specialists train your team to test film properties and troubleshoot film-related issues on the production line, helping prevent problems that could affect print quality, production efficiency, and overall output.
Film Testing & Print Compatibility Workshop
Hands-on testing of film properties before it goes into production, to confirm the film works correctly with your print process:
- Ink adhesion testing: measuring surface energy (dyne level) and preparing the film surface before printing.
- Seal strength and hot tack testing: checking how tight the seal holds and how well low-SIT sealing performs.
- Barrier property testing: evaluating EVOH barrier performance and resistance to oxygen and moisture.
- COF (Coefficient of Friction) testing: measuring how slippery the film surface is, matched to your production line.
Film Troubleshooting in Production Line
Diagnosing and fixing film-related issues that show up on the line, including:
- How to diagnose and fix poor ink adhesion.
- Finding the temperature, pressure, and dwell-time causes behind seal leaks or seal failure.
- How to adjust production parameters when film shrinks abnormally.

Print Tooling Operation & Maintenance Courses
PSG’s flexographic printing equipment specialists train your team in equipment selection, installation, and maintenance to help achieve sharp, consistent flexo print quality. Our expertise covers anilox rollers, rotary dies, doctor blades, and 3D scanning systems.
Anilox Roll Selection & Cleaning Maintenance
The right way to choose and clean anilox rolls:
- Selection: how to choose screen ruling and cell volume for solids, fine lines, and halftones for accurate ink transfer.
- Cleaning: hands-on training in removing deep-set ink residue safely, both by hand with the right sponge and with an ultrasonic cleaning machine, to restore ink cells and extend roll life.
Magnetic Cylinder & Flexible Dies
The correct way to mount die-cutting plates onto a magnetic cylinder, for accurate, consistent die-cutting:
- How to correctly install and position die plates on the magnetic cylinder.
- Setting blade pressure to match material thickness: precise pressure for cutting only the top sticker layer without cutting into the liner (kiss cut), or cutting all the way through (full cut), for clean edges and longer blade life.
- Inspecting and maintaining the magnetic cylinder and flexible dies to extend their working life.
Advanced Doctor Blade Selection & Application
A close look at what affects ink metering. Learn how to choose blade angle and pressure to match your ink type, press speed, and anilox roll surface for smooth, even ink delivery and no scratching on the plate.
Hot Stamping & Embossing Parameter Setup
Setting up and adjusting temperature, pressure, and speed for hot stamping and embossing to match your die and substrate for sharp, well-defined results and foil that bonds firmly every time.
Troika 3D Scanning Inspection System
Advanced hands-on training on using a 3D microscope camera system to check tooling condition before it goes on press, in two parts:
- Anilox measurement: using the camera and 3D scanning software to measure cell volume, depth, wall thickness, and cell angle, to assess wear, clogging, and keep ink delivery precise and consistent.
- Flexo plate & dot measurement: scanning to check dot percentage, size, and shape on the plate, catching defects like collapsed or distorted dots and confirming the plate is 100% ready before printing.
- Reading Troika's software reports and using the data to fine-tune your print process.
