UV technology - a more sustainable future for air, water and surface disinfection

Alpha Purify

Alpha-Purify™ stands at the forefront of UV lamp technology with over 25 years of experience providing UV lamps to OEMs and endusers. Alpha-Purify’s expertise in UV lamp manufacturing has made their products a global choice for disinfection, purification, and germicidal treatment systems.

Why use UV technology in disinfection systems?

UV based disinfection processes (also known as germicidal irradiation) is a chemical-free disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (UV-C) light to inactivate microorganisms by disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions such as reproduction. At the 254nm wavelength, UV light can penetrate the cell wall of a microorganism, permanently altering the DNA structure within seconds and leaving no chemical by-products as a result.

Alpha-Purify’s medium-pressure and Amalgam/Low-Pressure UV lamps are crafted with precision and quality, ensuring effectiveness in a wide range of applications including water purification, air sterilisation, and surface disinfection.

Products

The range of applications that use UV based disinfection systems is broad and includes:

  • Drinking Water purification
  • Waste Water disinfection
  • Marine water reuse
  • Marine Ballast water treatment (BWMS)
  • Food & Beverage treatments
  • Horticulture water cleanliness
  • Aquatic disinfection
  • Aquaculture water quality

Medium-Pressure Lamps

Medium-pressure UV lamps used in disinfection and germicidal systems have a higher power density and can make systems more compact in size. They also emit a wider disinfection wavelength, 200-320nm, giving a broader spectrum of weaponry against pathogens, tackling the proteins and enzymes as well as DNA.

Amalgam/Low-Pressure Lamps

Amalgam and Low-pressure UV lamps produce monochromatic radiation at 254 nm wavelength, which makes them ideal for a range of disinfection and sterilisation applications. The lamps tend to be long in length, around 100cm, and emit ultraviolet light at a high intensity.

Quartz Sleeve

Quartz Sleeve

A Quartz Sleeve is used to protect the UV lamp when immersed in the water treatment system. They can be supplied as either open and closed-ended in a wide range of diameters and lengths.

Ballast / Power Supplies

Alpha-Purify can supply power supplies, chokes, ignitors, transformers and capacitors to suit the specific overall power requirement and switching needs of most power supplies available around the world.
